Exteriors
Exteriors
First impressions last—and that’s why exteriors must be stunningly impressive. There’s no need to tear down the worn-out walls. They can be improved by simply adding materials that will cover up while improving the aesthetics and durability of the structure. At Constrada Construction, we take pride in being the expert in this practical art.
The choice of materials and methods in improving the exterior is varied. The following are only some of them:
- Exterior Cladding. The exterior cladding is more like the “skin” of a building. Numerous materials can be used for exterior cladding, like concrete, real and synthetic stuccos, wood, metals, vinyl, slates, clay tiles, and fiber cement. While there are so many choices, the best material should be impressively resistant to vermin entry, mechanical damage, wind and water. It should be cheap, easily installed, and low maintenance, while providing top-notch security and, of course, great aesthetic appeal.
- Drywall. Walls of modern structures are now finished with this newer technology called drywall. Before it, the construction industry favored plaster. Drywall was once known as plasterboard because it replaces the plaster’s main function while providing easy installation. Like its predecessor, it is generally used for interior walls. So why use it for exteriors? In some areas like Texas, drywalls can be used outdoors because humidity allows it. We use the special kind of drywall made to withstand the challenges of outdoor elements. Some homeowners prefer this material because it’s a lot cheaper and easier to install, too.
- Accent Stone. This material is used mainly for decorative purposes and is usually installed to highlight certain parts of an area. Since for decoration, they have to be beautiful enough for show-off. So it’s logical to choose natural stones for this purpose. However, manufactured stones are equally beautiful as well, especially considering the unlimited design options provided as concrete can be of any shape, texture, size, or color. It can even be made to look embossed with symbolic figures, like maybe a logo of your company. Our accent stone is ideally installed on the entrance, columns of the patio, the patio itself, or around an outdoor living space.
- Stone Veneers. With the one-inch thickness and weight of less than 15lbs per square foot, stone veneers can be the more aesthetically pleasing alternative to the usual tiles. They both have the same purpose—covering a wall for decorative purposes. But unlike tiles, veneers also improve the overall stability of a surface. They can be cut from natural quarried stones or can be manufactured. They’re flexible for exteriors, like covering up an otherwise boring exterior wall or a retaining wall.
- Manufactured Stone. More than the product quality, craftsmanship is also important when using manufactured stone for the exterior. That is why we carefully choose our suppliers for this type of stone. Of course, natural stones can always be used, but if you need something lighter, more uniform, and cheaper, then the manufactured stone is the better choice.
